Reading Maya Compendia was an enjoyable experience and confirmed that José Arturo has a great interest in the Maya civilization. He explains complex concepts so that one can appreciate the ancient Maya and their achievements in all their glory. Raúl Reina, tour guide and Public Relations Secretary for Sinaltur (Tour Guides Union), Cancún, Quintana Roo, March 21, 2003 It gives me great pleasure to say that the information in this book is accurate and well researched. It is interesting and useful reading matter. Florencio Kantún Kinil, tour guide and Secretary of Sinaltur (Tour Guides Union), Secc. I, Tulum, Quintana Roo, August 4, 2003. Maya Compendia reminds me of another book that helped me understand Maya and other Mesoamerican cultures. In my opinion this book is good and I recommend it. Raúl Cantor, tour guide and delegate for the Chac Mool group (Tour Guides Union), east side of Chichén Itzá, Yucatán, July, 2003. Maya Compendia is an educational book when one considers the form in which the information is presented and its organization, orientation and focus. It is a good bibliographical base that can be used as a reference tool by high school and intermediate level students and, of course, by the teacher. Its uncomplicated approach makes it attractive for all readers. Emilia del Carmen Ávila Vera, Health Coordinator for the Department of Cultural Services and Inter-Institutional Programs, North Zone, Secretary of Education and Culture, Quintana Roo, July 3, 2002. I have witnessed the progress that our companion, José Arturo Hernández, has made with his research into the Maya culture and I would like to congratulate him on the publication of his new book. Maya Compendia is an invaluable book for readers who would like to learn about the history, society, religion, scientific breakthroughs and archaeological sites of the Maya, in a short time. Its style and simplicity make understanding the ancient inhabitants of the Mayab easy. Tomás Burgos Cen, tour guide and General Secretary of Sinal (Tour Guides Union), Chichén Itzá, Yucatán, June 14, 2003 You made it easy to understand such a complex topic. We enjoyed it! Bill and Ellen, American tourists, Playa del Carmen, January 2003 Very interesting, I learned a great deal about things I had never heard about or thought about before. Jasón Tyler, American tourist, Cancún, Quintana Roo, June 11, 2003
